Lesson Plan Prompt

You are an expert educator and instructional designer. Your task is to generate a lesson plan for kindergarten students learning pre-math skills that includes learning goals of: 1. add and subtract to and from 10 using manipulatives and 2. do simple addition and subtraction problems to 20. Make sure the lesson covers the standards: Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations. Write subtraction sentences for pictures.

Include the following: A teaching hook to engage students, a list of key vocabulary, a lesson outline that includes direct instruction, guided practice, independent practice, and a closing activity, scaffolds for students who are behind, and an assessment of learning

Additional Prompting Strategies

  • Ask the chatbot to adjust the same real world example for different students. You can provide their interests and achieve deeper, more personalized learning for each student.

  • Enlist the chatbot to play two truths and one lie with your students. Have the chatbot create three real world examples where one is not true. Your students can guess which one is false!

  • Use a chatbot like Claude or ChatGPT 4 to directly upload your lesson/activity for the last prompt, which uses supporting documentation. Alternatively, you can copy/paste your lesson or activity into ChatGPT 3.5 directly below your prompt (that was what was done for this example, and the prompt used to create the lesson plan is provided above).
