Student AI Prompt-a-thon

A collaborative event that brings students and teachers together to solve real-world problems by leveraging the power of Generative AI.

Transform Learning Through Collaborative Innovation

The Prompt-a-thon goes beyond traditional professional development—it's a dynamic event where students and faculty work side-by-side to address authentic community challenges.

What is a prompt-a-thon?

The Promptathon is a design-thinking challenge where students and faculty collaborate to solve community problems using GenAI tools.

Teams are trained on AI fundamentals before working together to identify a problem, research and iterate solutions, and present their innovations through whole-group presentations.

Why Schools Choose Prompt-a-thons

Build Future-Ready Skills

Encourages problem-solving, critical and design thinking, and cross-generational collaboration skills while building GenAI literacy. Students see firsthand how AI concepts translate into practical tools for impact, making technology tangible and purposeful rather than theoretical.

Empowering Students

Our focus on GenAI as enhancing human abilities, not replacing them, allows participants to see the positive impact they can have in their communities. Students gain confidence and agency, understanding that they can be changemakers with the right tools and mindset.

Foster Responsible AI Adoption

Hands-on problem-solving not only helps students understand both AI’s capabilities and limitations in real-time, but also sparks meaningful conversations about responsible use between teachers and students.

How a Prompt-a-thon Works

  • We collaborate with your team to understand your goals, community context, and logistics. This consultation ensures the event aligns with your school's vision and addresses relevant local challenges.

1

  • Mixed teams of students and faculty use liberatory design principles to identify authentic community challenges they're passionate about solving. This phase emphasizes equity and centering impacted voices.

2

4

  • Teams present their solutions in whole-group presentations, sharing their process and innovations. Our team co-judges proposals, and all participants receive certificates recognizing their successful completion.

3

5

  • The event begins with our "Introduction to AI Fundamentals" session, establishing a foundation of AI literacy for all participants. Students and faculty learn essential concepts before diving into hands-on work.

  • Teams leverage GenAI tools to research, iterate, and develop solutions. Throughout this process, they learn to effectively prompt AI systems while maintaining critical thinking and human-centered design.
