AI literacy is a crowded term with uneven evidence behind it. This session separates what we know from what gets repeated. Where student and educator use actually stands, what current AI literacy efforts are and are not changing, and where the distance between use and understanding is widest.
What AI Literacy Looks Like on the Ground

This welcome and keynote walks through the SEE Framework: the knowledge, mindsets, and practices that allow individuals to use GenAI safely, ethically, and effectively. Developed and refined over three years of work with schools and education organizations worldwide, SEE gives a community shared language for AI decisions and a concrete set of behaviors to teach, model, and look for.
You will leave knowing what GenAI literacy is, why it cannot wait, and how the three lenses work together in the decisions educators and students face every day.
Join us for a panel of educators, school leaders, and students on what changes when a school takes AI literacy seriously. What they tried, what failed, what they would do differently, and what they are seeing from students right now that is not showing up in the research yet.

Choose from any two 20-minute sessions from partners building GenAI tools for schools.
The morning asks educators what it takes to use these tools well. This block asks the builders the harder version of the same question: what does it take to build a tool that grows a user’s AI literacy instead of standing in for it?
Each partner shows what they are building, how safety and judgment are designed into the product rather than bolted on afterward, and what they have changed because of what schools told them. Attendees leave better equipped to evaluate any GenAI tool, including the ones presenting.
