TeachAI Released New Framework for K-12 Education

Developed in partnership with the OECD, TeachAI just released their AI Literacy Framework for primary and secondary education. We had the opportunity to review and provide feedback on early drafts, and the final version is scheduled for 2026.

Here are some highlights:

1. The framework is organized around 4 core domains of AI Literacy:

  • Engaging with AI

  • Creating with AI

  • Managing AI

  • Designing AI

2. The 4 domains encompass 22 Competencies that blend knowledge, skills, and attitudes of AI Literacy with real-world classroom scenarios.

3. Goes beyond technical skills to emphasize critical thinking, ethics, and human judgment

4. No AI tools are required for many of the activities—instead, the framework focuses on building foundational understanding first and then building durable, transferable skills that go beyond specific tools

5. There is a strong emphasis on educator support, recognizing the essential role teachers play in fostering AI Literacy. The framework also calls for robust professional learning resources.

We're always happy to see resources that help address the AI literacy gap with practical, age-appropriate approaches for educators!
