Generative AI & Assessment

July 30, 2025

This webinar featuring international AI consultant and author Leon Furze, explores how recent advances in GenAI have exposed the vulnerabilities in existing assessment methods, and offers proactive ideas and practical strategies for addressing the technology in classrooms.

Since the release of ChatGPT in 2022, Generative Artificial Intelligence has developed rapidly, including in mathematical reasoning, image recognition and generation, and other domains. This makes online assessment problematic in many contexts. In 2023, Furze first introduced the AI Assessment Scale (AIAS) to help educators and students work together in understanding appropriate use. It has since been adopted by schools worldwide and featured by UNESCO. The session will include a discussion of the AIAS and examples for different disciplines.
